PAINTING
My cousin Audie did this with her girls and I thought it looked like fun. So one day we stopped at the store and picked up a couple canvases to paint. I let them paint until their little hearts were content. Well actually I had to convince Kyley she was done because I don't think her canvas could hold one more coat of paint.
I was rather impressed with the end results. Notice the random flag in the middle of Hailey's? It is so totally random yet it looks rather nice. The yellow on Kyley's they say is Belle's dress, it does sort of resemble that. It was lots of fun. They are hanging on the wall, I just need to get frames for them. One day I might have them paint me some more, the wall is big, two paintings just isn't enough.
JAZZ GAME
We took the girls to a couple Jazz games this past season. I actually remembered to take a camera to one of the games.During half time we had to make our way over to Grandma's portal to visit her, plus it was a good place to get their picture.
This is the reason I am glad I actually took the camera. We had really close seats to this game and they scared Kyley. It also didn't help that it was an extra loud game. So for a while she sat on the floor like this.
ARNOLD FAMILY REUNION
This year we had our first Arnold Family Reunion. This was the first time in a really long time that all of the family has been together. It was a lot of fun.My mom's family...My mom, Julie, Connie, Grandma, Lane, Laurie & Gina
The whole family...or at least all of those that showed up...so most of us.
Kyley
Kathryn playing on the slides with my kids.
Hailey
Kyley won this jar of candy at the reunion. Can you tell she is pleased?
P.S. She hasn't even eaten all of it yet...amazing.My mom, my Grandma, Me and my kids...4 generations of girls!
Kathryn, Connie & Grandma
I took a picture of Grandma while she wasn't looking. She caught me and was calling me a gutsy girl. While talking to her I was still sneakily taking pictures of her...hee hee hee. But, I did end up with this rather nice one.
Chloe & Chloe
Hayley & Hailey
It was also Kathryn's Birthday! So I made her this cake.
MEMORIAL DAY
On Memorial Day we like to go to This is the Place State Park. Memorial weekend they have baby animal days. The kids can pet and hold various baby farm animals. The girls love it.Chloe checking out a baby duck.
Hailey riding a horse.
Kyley riding a horse. This is probably their favorite part of this place.
I love the lamb's expression!
Hailey would have probably taken all of the baby ducks and chickens home.
They had a blast petting this horse and another that was near it. They kept picking the grass and feeding it to them. I think they would take these home too!
FUN IN THE SUN
I got the girls a slip 'n' slide. It is a two lane one, why didn't they have this kind when I was little. It is pretty funny to watch them. they still haven't figured out how to slide on their bellies down the whole thing.
GETTING OUT OF THE CITY
One weekend afternoon Don decided we should go for a ride up the Mirror Lake Highway. It was nice to get out of the city for a bit. There was still quite a bit of snow, although, it was melting like crazy. All the lakes were still frozen. It was so pretty! We took these pictures when we stopped in an area to look at how full the river was. It was crazy full and terrified Kyley. She later told me that she thought Hailey was going to fall in and then she would be sad because Hailey is her big sister.I really like this picture other than the lighting. Hailey's face had a big shadow from the trees. I lightened it but that sort of made everything else look off.
Classic Kyley when she is done cooperating.
More classic Kyley.
This is my favorite picture from this outing.
WOOD FAMILY REUNION A water relay game. You put the hat with an attached cup on your head.
Then you fill it up with water from a bucket by your feet. Then you run to another bucket at the end of the lane and dump your water into it without removing your hat.
Naked Chloe. After the relay a little water fight broke out. Chloe got a little wet so Grandma took her clothes off to dry
MORE PAINT
Kyley wanted to paint one night so she squeezed some paint out onto the paper on the table and then left it. Chloe found the paint and here is the result...
KINDERGARTENHailey's last project in kindergarten was to make an unusual pet. It could be a real animal or an imaginary one. She decided she wanted to make a giraffe. We used formula cans, toilet paper rolls, baby cereal puff containers, cardboard, felt, pipe cleaners, google eyes and duct tape. When it came time to paint it she decided she wanted it pink and blue rather than brown and yellow. She is so pleased with her creation I don't think she will ever part with it.
The last day of school parents got to come to the classroom for an unusual pet show and a mini graduation ceremony. I can't believe she is done with Kindergarten!
Hailey & her teacher Mrs. Johnson. I know Hailey has only been to kindergarten so far but I think Mrs. Johnson will stay one of our favorite teachers.
THE 4th OF JULY
Really this all took place on July 3rd but who cares. We (minus Don, he had to work) started out the morning with the West Jordan 4th of July parade. We met up with Don's brother Jared and his family and Don's dad. The kids had fun getting candy and dancing to all of the music.A group of Boy Scouts were passing out little flags. That little thing kept Chloe entertaind for a very long time.
Ky was a dancing machine! I think she might have been more entertaining than the parade.
After Don got done with work we went boating with Jared and his little clan. It was fun. Chloe hated her life jacket! And Ky was scared almost the entire time.
Hailey, her cousing Jacey and Uncle Jared on the tube.
Hailey, Jacey, cousin Chase (the blonde) and a friend on the tube. There is just something about this picture that I really like. Possible the expressions of the girls.
It is really hard to take pictures while on a moving boat, especially when the subjects of your picture are also moving. Still, I love the expressions in this picture.
More great expressions.
I think Hailey was getting a little nervous here. She is motioning for Jared to slow down.
Kyley would only go out on the tube with me. We had to go VERY SLOW. She looks a little unsure in this picture.
Now you can tell she is having fun.
When I asked her if it was fun she told me "It is fun but it is stiiiiiiillllll (still) scarey!"
Little Chloe. she spent a good bit of time sleeping on the boat.
Don attempting to wakeboard. The water got really choppy and then everyone had a hard time staying vertical.
Well that is the end of my marathon post. I really need to post more often. It is really hard to find time to sit at the computer. Life is just busy!
Sweet paintings! At first I thought Chloe had eaten blue toe nail polish...that would have been scary! I like that Hailey's giraffe is just about as tall as her...she could almost ride it. I didn't know Kyley was a little dancer...next time I see her I am going to have to have her bust a move for me. Sweet pictures!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you have been busy this summer. I like the paintings, and the paint eating.
ReplyDeleteSo many fun pictures!! I loved how their canvases turned out. Beautiful! You guys are having a fun summer!
